PORCH TRAILERS
Nearly all porch trailers are built out as a BBQ porch trailer with a big smoker on the back. This is a great trailer model and configuration for any kind of BBQ business, from BBQ competitions to event catering or operating a concession. Putting the barbecue out on the porch has two main reasons; firstly to draw eyeballs with your prize smoker and secondly as a practical solution to more easily keeping out smoke and soot from the kitchen part of your porch trailer and allow easy access all around the smoker.

KARPATIA PORCH TRAILERS
Starting at 20′ with a 6’8” porch, trailers are 8′ wide and 7′ tall with an optional 6” in both height and width for an extra spacious, extra wide and tall version. We can custom build the porch trailer any size you want up to 50′ long.
We build your porch area to about a third of the total length of the trailer to an advised maximum of 12′ of porch as bigger porches generally make less sense the longer your trailer is.
The main reason is that one of ways to improve the flow of product in a BBQ trailer is to allow access to the smoker from inside the covered part of the trailer. You can’t go too deep with the porch unless you decide to load from outside and sacrifice a lot of flow.
Porch trailers are available in any standard RAL color coating and come standard with a stainless steel porch and a ramp door. Trailers are bumper-pull with a standard trailer hitch but we provide a gooseneck option mainly recommended for longer builds or especially heavy ones to improve stability and turn radius.
WHY A KARPATIA PORCH TRAILER
IS BETTER
PORCH TRAILER INSPIRATION
PORCH TRAILER INSPIRATION
Great barbecue can be served from many different outlets, from brick pits to kamado grills, and from enclosed trailers and BBQ food trucks to BBQ porch trailers.
Meaning your porch needs to be a conscious choice for a specific type of BBQ. Like a pitmaster, but with a twist. After all, now you’ll be a porch-master. And while we’re all about never changing a winning formula there are other options to put on your porch than a smoker.
Why not build a shallow pit out back, or an open charcoal grill all round the porch for kebabs and shashlik?
Go hogwild and use the porch trailer space for an open rotisserie grill and put a pig spit roast or sheep for a real Greek taste on that and very few smoker builds will draw the same amount of attention.

NON-BBQ PORCH TRAILERS
Many food trailers are built “wide” meaning the service window is on the broadside of the trailer. Porch trailers uniquely allow you to easily deviate from that and build a “deep” trailer with a more efficient layout like a regular fast food restaurant has.
Service counter up front – kitchen in the back.
This way you can optimize the flow of product much more easily and work through that line in no time.
BUMPER-PULL VS. GOOSENECK VS. 5TH WHEEL
Concession trailers are chiefly bumper-pull trailers. This is a practical, cheap, and efficient solution for pulling a trailer as any car with a trailer hitch can do the job.
A major reason to consider other options is your ability to turn and park. This is a lot easier with a gooseneck or 5th wheel once you are used to it, both because of the rotation and the relatively shorter length of a trailer as a few feet will be above the truck bed. Gooseneck trailers and especially 5th wheel trailers provide a smoother, more stable ride.
Cheapest and most common is the blunt or flat nose concession trailer, essentially a big box on wheels. Nothing wrong with that, but a V nose trailer adds an easy 3 feet panel on both sides for extra storage, giving you a handy generator box, and easy way to access your electric panel, cable hatch and separate plumbing access.
V-nose trailers being more stable is unfortunately a concession myth, but they do make lower drag and as a result slightly increase your mileage when pulling. Optionally you can decide to do half-height inside or outside for the V-nose space, giving your more outside space or extra room inside for cabinetry and an additional workbench.
