Everybody loves the Herbsters – an iconic true vintage classic Citroen HY outfitted as a full-service coffee shop on wheels. Herb’s Coffee House uses those for catered events and getting their brand out there, from birthday parties to conferences, weddings, church events, and more. While the Herbsters are a big hit and deliver a unique and wonderful experience for the customer, Herbs’ Coffee house itself wanted to be able to take the Herbster experience further afield and not have to get a car hauler or transporter every time they did. We offered the choice between modernizing the existing Herbsters or getting the New Type H customization and a new build – and for now, we started with the latter.

Great care was paid to mimic both the brick and mortar outlets Herb’s Coffee House operates and the currently operating Herbsters, while also modernizing and improving the look. This New Type H Herbster features custom Swedish Oak wood grain laminate cabinetry and sleek dark basalt slate look countertops. Paired with warm lighting and custom wood slatwork that has adjustable recessed LED strip lighting, it creates the perfect cozy coffee-shop vibe that’s welcome sight at any event.

This beauty also features a digital menu board that swings out on a moveable arm for a more discrete, high-end solution to building a digital menu board.

Of course the new Herbster is not just beautiful – it is also functional. The coffee machine is a Unic Tango XP Duo because that’s how you do volume at quality. It is a high-performance, super-automatic espresso machine that utilizes dual brew groups and a precision grinding system to consistently deliver up to 440 barista-quality cups per hour, not just black coffee – featuring dual brew groups and an integrated milk system for customized hot, cold, and foamed milk beverages.

This unit also features a Marco FRIIA, a premium, modular under-counter water system that instantly dispenses high-volume hot, cold, and even sparkling water through a single, space-saving countertop font. Operating via a concealed under-counter boiler and chiller-carbonator, the modular Marco FRIIA system delivers on-demand without sacrificing valuable prep-counter space that other devices would.

The New Type H-Herbster has been a massive hit, performing exactly as planned – allowing Herbs’ Coffee House to take on even more events and catering assignments with more flexibility than the vintage Herbsters.
