Use Case
Barclays Center – home of the Brooklyn Nets, wanted a unique, premium concession and merchandising solution that would stand out in their bustling concourse.
They required a fully functional, compliant set of kiosks that elevated the fan experience beyond standard, visually unappealing stadium carts.
The solution was two retrofitted Vintage Citroën HY vans, transformed into permanent, high-end stationary kiosks, one dedicated to team apparel and one optimized for food and beverage service.
attention to custom details
Most cars just drive – but these units flew, twice! Once from our European workshop in Budapest, the Hungarian capital – to JFK, and the second time from the Stadium’s floor to the concourse.
As they had to be hoisted we had to engineer a wholly different sort of compliance and safety from the usual NSF- and NFPA stuff, and these are outfitted with a structural crossframe that was engineered to hoist the units. Of course – we didn’t just engineer that, we also test-hoisted them in Budapest before they went to NYC.
It’s not every day we get to see our units hoisted by a massive construction crane directly over the stadium and it is said our marketing team even keep a copy of these pictures on their nightstand.
All engine and drivetrain components were removed and units are outfitted with entirely custom cabinetry, both real wood (merchandising unit) and custom stainless steel and aluminum (concessions).
Both units were crowned with a 100% custom-fabricated, illuminated marquee sign. Another interesting detail that can’t really be seen on the pictures is that we could not raise the roof of the units as we would normally do to increase the interior standing height, as then the units’ sign would not have been able to fit under the roof – so we did what any logical fabricator would do and invented a new solution by making a custom lowered floorbox instead.
The Results
The vehicles now serve as highly photographed attractions within the Barclays Center.
They provide high-volume point-of-sale capabilities while doubling as premium architectural centerpieces.
This build proves that with the right engineering, a commercial concession stand doesn’t just have to serve the fans, it can be a core part of the arena’s visual identity.
