Serving a film crew is all about managing sudden, massive surges in foot traffic.

When a director calls a wrap or meal break, 100+ crew members can exit a soundstage simultaneously.

Wildflower Studios—a massive, multi-story production campus in New York—needed a nimble, high-throughput coffee solution. The goal was to deploy mobile coffee stations that could navigate the studio lot and instantly handle heavy crowds without creating a bottleneck.

And they had to be stand-out, unique eye-catching units – enter the piaggio ape.

We built out two iconic Piaggio Ape chassis to act as rapid-deployment coffee stations. Because these units would live at a state-of-the-art film studio, they needed to look the part.

The customer chose highly specific paint – custom matte paint jobs. One in stealth black, not just stealth black but Vanta black, the other in a vibrant blue paired with classic whitewall tires.

The service areas are constructed using beautiful, highly durable marine-grade wood cabinetry designed to withstand the wear and tear of daily, high-volume use.

To maximize serving speed during the 100+ person rushes, we engineered custom gullwing pop-up roofs for overhead coverage and integrated flush-mounted F-B-TEC cup dispensers directly into the exterior casework. We also added strategically placed 110V/USB outlets directly on the service counter for easy POS system or accessory integration.

The dual Piaggio Ape fleet is a highly successful part of Wildflower Studios’ daily operations, flawlessly handling the massive, immediate demands of a working film crew.

They are proven to be both highly functional and incredibly resilient. In fact, they proved their durability when the studio accidentally crashed the two units into each other on the lot!

Because we build our trucks for the real world, our team was able to quickly step in, repair the damage, and get the fleet right back to work pouring coffee.
